Values and the National Spirit
Background
The Base involves areas of philosophy, Marxist theory, sociology, political science, building on College of Philosophy and Sociology, School of Marxism as supporting units. The Base has one national key major at level 1 (Marxist philosophy), one Beijing Municipal key secondary disciplines (foreign philosophy), with 2 a-level disciplines authorized majors (philosophy, Marxist theory), and 17 doctoral disciplines, 3 Post-doctoral programs, 26 master degree disciplines; 1 key research base of Ministry of education on humanities and social sciences (Research Centre for Study of Value and Culture). The Base has 45 professors, 36 Associate Professors, 22 lecturers. Among them, there are 4 chief experts of the central theoretical study and construction of Marxism, 3 chief expert of Marxist theory and construction of the Ministry of Education, 2 national talent candidates, 2 discipline review group members, 2 cross-century talents and 11 talents in the new century sponsored by the Ministry of Education of China.
Objectives
The Base has objectives to research deeply the process of Chinese modernization and Chinese renaissance with upgrading of the national soft strength. In ten years we will do research on values and national spirit relating to significant theoretic and practical issues by innovating on methodology and paradigm of investigation, upgrading on credibility and comprehension as well as depth and level of investigation, strengthening objectives and foresight of grasping and answering those issues, in order to make the base more powerful and influential and to be national authority in the investigation. It will publish reports and books with both domestic and international influences and provide for the central ministries and local government with a high level of reliability theory related decision-making advice and intelligence support.
Contents
The major motive of the Base construction is concise, in-depth studies on major topics of the times by innovating management system, improving the overall strength, consolidating existing resource in various disciplines and promoting the construction of disciplines as a whole. Marxist philosophy, foreign philosophy, Chinese philosophy, Chinese Communist Party history will be famous in the world, while remaining secondary disciplines of philosophy and political science on the domestic first-class level as Marxist theory and sociology disciplines. There will be 2-3 State-level quality courses (curriculum), State-level teaching achievement award and State-level teaching famous teacher, dozens of national outstanding doctoral dissertation, and domestic influential quality courses. There will be 2-3 Changjiang scholars of Ministry of Education by introduction or training, 2-3 new century excellent talents of Ministry of Education, National Science Fund for 1-2 distinguished young scholars, 3-5 excellent doctoral from well-known universities in the world. Frontiers of Philosophy in China will be in A&HCI, 5 papers in SSCI year average, more than 90 papers in the CSSCI yearly. There will be first prize for the humanities in colleges and universities or national social science Fund for outstanding achievement award, first prize for philosophy and social sciences outstanding achievements in Beijing, major national social science Fund project and philosophy and social science major research projects from the Ministry of Education. We will fix stable exchanges and cooperation between the base and well-known universities and research institutions in the world, and organize 5 high level international conferences, send perfect graduate students to famous colleges and universities abroad. We will provide for the central ministries and local governments with the Socialist core value system and the national spirit and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation study and have a greater impact, further enhancing the innovation base for social service and social effects.
