School of Brain and Cognitive Sciences:
Our school has one national level key discipline (psychology); one national key laboratory (National Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning); one National Creative Research Group, two Yangtze Scholars, six National Outstanding Youth awards, two National Candidates of Millions of Talents Project in the New Century, four New Century Talents of Ministry of Education, one National Distinguished Teacher winner, one group of the Program of Introducing
Talents of Discipline to Universities from Bureau of Foreign Expert Affairs and Ministry of Education.
The School of Psychology in Beijing Normal University has been granted National First-class Key Discipline, Beijing Key Laboratory of Applied Experimental Psychology, National Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences, Talents Training Base for National Teaching and Research of Basic Sciences, as well as National Demonstration Center for Basic Psychological Experiments and Teaching. It also has one faculty selected as a candidate of Thousand Talents Program, one as Yangtze River Scholar Professor, and 8 as New Century Excellent Talents from Ministry of Education.
School of Information Science and Technology:
The subject of information belongs to the first level discipline of computer science and technology in Beijing Normal University, relying on the school of information science and technology and equipped with the doctoral program of the first level discipline of the computer science and technology. There exist the Virtual Reality Application of Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center, and Beijing Municipal's Key Laboratory of Cultural Heritage Protection and Virtual Reality. The school of information science and technology has been awarded as the innovation research base of Beijing information research and technologies, and has become an important scientific research base and the national training camp of computer science and technology of China.
There are 11 professors and 10 abroad returnees. In the research of areas of virtual reality theory, craniofacial morphology informatics, virtual education, virtual cultural heritage protection, inheritance and neural computation, image processing and their applications, etc., we have made a series of landmark achievements, which has reached the international and the domestic advanced level. We acquired the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2009.
Objectives
School of Brain and Cognitive Sciences:
To aim at the international frontiers of scientific issues and major national needs, clarify research interests, focus on scientific issues, integrate of cognitive neuroscience, psychology, education, molecular biology and other disciplines, combine environment, genetics, brain, behavior and education intervention techniques, focus on the key issue of "learning of children and adolescents" from multi-angle of processing, development and disorders, carry out multidisciplinary research from three aspects of cognitive behavior (basic cognition: perception, attention, memory, advanced cognition: language, mathematics), social behavior and health behavior, provide scientific principles and techniques to recognize and promote the learning and development of children and adolescents.
School of Psychology:
With the goal of building a world-class psychological discipline, the school of psychology in BNU will keep recruiting and developing top-notch and creative talents. It strives to make breakthroughs in high-end talent recruitment and innovation in the existing systems of personnel training and incentives. It aims to cultivate a high-level faculty group that is of international influence.
School of Information Science and Technology:
We aim at the comprehensive level with the higher, more characteristic, and advanced rank and will achieve a group of theory and application research results to reach the international advanced level and international leading level. We will speed up the cultivation of characteristic and advantage scientific research team, and in the existing research areas, we will make the research team of virtual reality become a domestic first-class research group with international visions.

School of Information Science and Technology:
Based on the combination of our subjects and the preponderant subjects in our university, the construction of our subjects will be combined with the characteristics of comprehensiveness,education and research of our university and form some research areas of distinct characteristics, such as the digital protection of culture heritage, the processing of brain images on cognitive science, etc. We will begin our research work on the basic theories and methods of virtual reality, virtual education and study, digital protection of culture heritage, theory and method of craniofacial morphology, 3D medicine, neural computation, image processing, etc.
We will develop some elites with the spirit of innovation and practical abilities. At the same time, we will form a reasonable academic team and actively promote the industrialization of existing results and build an intact Industry-University-Research base.
